1. Why is kids.now needed?

The challenges for kids in the crucial years of becoming a teen can be overwhelming: drugs, gangs, bullying, sex and more. Cutbacks in the education and social service systems don't help. Without the right direction and support, kids can make choices that hurt them, their family and their community, sometimes irreparably.

When was the last time you made a bad choice? It may have been as recently as today or yesterday! As adults we are surrounded by resources to help us make good choices. The kids at Columbine and Red Lake made bad choices. Closer to home, the kids in Mississauga that burned down the United Church made bad choices. These kids didn't have the resources you and I have to help us make good choices.

The world is changing fast. Young people need to be resilient and well educated to find their place in our increasingly complex knowledge-based society, but even a good education and a high IQ don't guarantee success.
