8. How is the program
evaluated?
We continually evaluate the kids.now program in
the following ways:
The Ontario Trillium Foundation funded a
two-year, independent third-party evaluation
of kids.now. The study's findings, based
on evaluations completed by our students, coaches
and school champions at the beginning and end
of each program, showed that the program has
a very positive impact on the students and is
strongly supported as valuable by the participating
coaches and school champions.
The Trillium grant also funded a methodological
study on which the measurable objectives of our
current evaluations are based.
All kids.now participants, coaches and school
champions (the kids.now team member from the school
staff) fill out a questionnaire at the end of the
program to evaluate how well their expectations
have been met.
We are currently designing and collecting data
for a study of the long-term results of the kids.now
program after one, two and five years.
We regularly conduct focus groups with kids,
coaches and school champions to ascertain how successfully
and efficiently the program is delivered.
The Rotman School of Management MBA candidates
from the University of Toronto, together with CIBC, have designed an
evaluation to measure the positive impact of being
a kids.now coach on the coaches' professional and
personal development. We are excited to show that
being a coach with kids.now has highly significant
benefits not only for our kids but for our coaches
as well.
