Chief Kids Officer & Founder
Janet received her B.A. (Psychology) and B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario, followed by three years of working in Europe and continuing her education in Vienna and Brussels. Upon returning to Canada in 1989, Janet worked in corporate research before returning to teaching and obtaining her Specialist designations in Special Education and in Guidance. Janet has represented Canada at the Children’s International Summer Village, a camp recognized at the United Nations for its mission of promoting peace amongst children. She has volunteered with several other child-centred organizations. Director of National Programs and Operations
Paula Sanchez graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Public Affairs & Management (2001) and from Ryerson University with a Certificate in Human Resources Management (2003). She is the Director of National Programs for Kids Now, overseeing program deliveries in three provinces and the training of hundreds of volunteers. Paula has been working with Kids Now for 9 years and counting.
Program Manager, Ontario
Heather joined the Kids Now team in the summer of 2003, and provides Program Management and Volunteer Management services for Central Canada to Kids Now. Believing that the best volunteer managers are also volunteers, Heather’s extensive volunteer experience includes working with several HIV/AIDS Service Organizations, the Elizabeth Fry Society, the National Ballet School, and Child Find – Missing and Exploited Children. The determined and community focused individual has been a volunteer mentor for Kids Now a record 19 times!
Program Manager, Edmonton
Amanda has an education background in volunteer management, and brings a wealth of experience working within the Edmonton volunteer community with Children’s Wish Foundation, Government of Alberta, Culture and Community Spirit, Grant MacEwan University and many more. Amanda is excited to be part of the Kids Now team and hopes to expand the program throughout the city of Edmonton.
Program Manager, Peel Region
Dawn comes to Kids Now with over 20 years of experience working in the NPO world. She has worked with thousands of volunteers and community partners to make a difference and help those in need. As the Director of Food Procurement and Agency Relations, Dawn and her team distributed 1.95 million pounds of food via The Mississauga Food Bank Network in 2012 alone. Optimistic and passionate about helping others, Kids Now is happy to have Dawn be the driving force behind the program’s expansion in Peel Region. Dawn’s motivation comes from raising 6 children, and now having 8 grandchildren, who have all followed her footsteps of volunteerism and helping others.
Director of Communications
Jessica began at Kids Now in 2011 as a communications assistant. Today she is leading the communications and fun department at Kids Now. As a young creative, Jessica is working with community partners and volunteers to make sure the Kids Now program reaches more people, while spreading our core values and pillars. Kids Now is delighted to have Jessica on board for her enthusiasm.
