JANET KING

President and Founder Janet received her B.A. (Psychology) and B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario, followed by three years of working in Europe. Upon returning to Canada in 1989, Janet worked in corporate research before returning to teaching and obtaining her Specialist designations in Special Education and in Guidance. Janet has represented Canada at the Children’s International Summer Village, a camp recognized at the United Nations for its mission of promoting peace amongst children. She has volunteered with several other child-centred organizations. Janet has been invited to speak at conferences and universities across Canada, and has been nominated for numerous honours Learn about what sparked Janet to start kids.now

 

PAULA SANCHEZ

Director of National Programs and Operations 

Paula Sanchez graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Public Affairs & Management (2001) and from Ryerson University with a Certificate in Human Resources Management (2003). She is the Director of National Programs for kids.now overseeing program deliveries in three provinces and the training of hundreds of volunteers.

 

VICKI NULLMEYER

Director, Development

Vicki brings over 20 years of marketing and fundraising experience to kids.now. Combining her product management experience at Tier 1 consumer goods companies with marketing at Rogers Media – The Shopping Channel, Vicki then took her expertise into the non profit sector at the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the Children’s Cancer Recovery Foundation.

 

HEATHER MACDONALD

Program Manager, Central Canada

Heather joined the kids.now team in the summer of 2003, and provides Program Management and Volunteer Management services for Central Canada to kids.now. Believing that the best volunteer managers are also volunteers, Heather’s extensive volunteer experience includes working with several HIV/AIDS Service Organizations, the Elizabeth Fry Society, the National Ballet School, and Child Find – Missing and Exploited Children. The determined and community focused individual has been a volunteer mentor for kids.now a record 19 times!

 

YVONNE SCHERBAN

Program Manager, Western Canada

Yvonne has been Program Manager for kids.now in Edmonton since 2010. She enjoys recruiting and screening the amazing volunteer mentors that apply to deliver the program, as well as working with the schools that set up and host the kids.now groups. She finds working directly with the youth a rewarding, learning experience. Outside of kids.now, she face paint with The Purple Team, participates in Transmission Meditation, City Lights Toastmasters, and is involved with the Edmonton branch of the Canadian Department of Peace Initiative.

LEN RIENDEAU

Program Manager, Eastern Canada

Len has been Program Manager for Kids.Now in New Brunswick for two years. This involves a fair bit of travel within the province, which is fine with him because he loves to travel. Len is an avid RVer (Recreational Vehicle), using his travel trailer extensively April through October. He is President of the Fundy Coast Campers, a local Chapter of Good Sam, the international RV club.
